Double Moon Mirage is an exciting new Danish band that have just released their debut album. They have toured with Hymns from Nineveh and played numerous independent concerts all around Denmark. The band has received quite a lot of attention during the last couple of years seeing as how they have been part of the score to the danish movie “Lang Historie Kort” with their single “Tropical Tale”. This single went furthermore straight in as the top song on Barometerlisten, a popular Danish radioprogram.
Behind Double Moon Mirage is the couple Nikolaj and Henriette Paakjær. Nikolaj is known for playing in various bands such as Hymns from Nineveh, Dør Nr. 13 and Mechanical Bird. Henriette was lead singer in the French psychpop band Paserine. Moreover, the couple have contributed to the new appendix to the national Danish hymnbook.
The 10 songs on their debut album are a well-crafted cocktail of existential poetry, love, and longing. On a very profound level, the album touches upon what it means to be a sentient human being. In their songs they combine the beauty of Simon and Garfunkels chorals, the poetic romance of Leonard Cohen, and Serge Gainsbourgs intimate eroticism.
